Anora's Beginning

  We lived in fear…in fear of these disgusting creatures. We lived behind a stone wall, we were like animals.. the wall was the cage. I hated it…

  Anora blinked her eyes open; the bright sun caused her eyes to shut again. She rubs her eyes open, leaning her back against a wall. “Was I dreaming about.. what was it?” she suddenly heard bells ring and gasps “They’re back!” she runs to the crowd gathering and looks, seeing the Scouts were back. She also looked to the side and saw her two friends Eren and Mikasa. “Hi, guys!” she called as she walked to them. “Hi Anora.” said Mikasa. Eren was too busy watching the Scouts. Anora watched too. She watched in horror as she saw remaining body parts on a wagon and injured scout members. She couldn’t stand seeing it and she ran before Eren and Mikasa noticed. Panting, she went home. “Mother, father, I’m here.” she called out. Her mother, Isabelle, hugged her “Hello, darling!” Anora made a short smile and hugged back. Her father, Easton, was coming downstairs. “Anora, sweetie.. I was thinking of something.” Anora looked at her father “Yes?” she asked. Her father sighed “I want you to join the Scouts.” Anora and her mother gasped. Isabelle gripped Easton’s hands “Honey, don’t you dare put that thought into her head! You know how many people die outside those walls?!” Easton remains calm “It’s her decision. Anora…” he looked at his daughter “Me and my father, your grandfather, were also part of the Scouts. Here.” He takes her hand and places something in her hand, Anora looks and it was a necklace with a silver shield; it had her name on the front and last name on the back, and the design was the family crest. “I made this for you, my daughter.” Anora looks up at him. He smiles at her “It’s your decision to join the Scouts.” She nods, putting on her necklace “I’m going to see my friends!” she calls out, running out the door.

  Anora walked through the streets thinking of what her father told her. She then heard other kids shouting and runs toward to where it was coming from. She saw Eren and Mikasa walking to Armin, her childhood friend, who was sitting on the ground “Armin!” she runs to him “You alright?” Armin felt his face heat up when he looked at Anora. He nods slightly “Y-Yeah.” she lends him her hand, he takes her hand and she pulls him up on his feet. Anora and the others went by the river and Armin explained why the kids were beating him. Anora didn’t pay much attention to their conversation; she looked off in the distance ‘What lies beyond those walls? A new world? Even filled with danger.. I’m sure I can endure it…’ She was lost in thought, when the ground suddenly shook violently. “What the..?!” Anora yelled. She and the others saw people exclaiming, running to the wall. Anora and Armin followed the crowd. Eren followed them “Armin? Anora?” Mikasa followed behind. Eren saw Armin and Anora standing still, wide-eyed in fear. Eren and Mikasa looked…what they saw was shocking; a Titan’s hand on the wall. Armin whimpers “Impossible! The wall is 50 meters high.” A huge Titan looked over the wall. Anora froze in fear “A-A Titan…” The wall, including the gate, was suddenly breached open. Armin whimpered “I-It blasted a hole..” people started screaming Titans came in. Eren started to walk “My house is that way.. Mom’s by herself..” Mikasa followed him. Anora then realized too ‘Mother! Father!’ she ran toward her home. Armin reached for her with his trembling hand “Anora!” Anora ran to her house, it was destroyed by the debris when the Titan kicked the wall. “N-No..” she ran and saw her father under a broken board, “A-Anora..” he mutters. “Father!” she screams. “Where’s mother?!” “Y-Your mother is..” Easton looks to the side, Isabelle was sitting on the ground, holding her head “D-Darling.. I hit my head. And your father,… his leg is broken.” Anora panics and tries to get the board off Easton “A-Anora…you have to run..” “No!” Anora screams “We all have to run!” Isabelle whispers to her “Anora… I can’t even stand, my head is hurting and my vision is blurred. I won’t make it. And your father can’t even stand either..” Tears start to stream down Anora’s face "I can help you..!" She then suddenly saw a Titan coming; she desperately kept trying to move to board off Easton. Armin came running up behind Anora. “A-Armin…take Anora and run...” Isabelle tells Armin. He nods, taking Anora’s hand “Anora, come on! Run!” he looks at her, she stared wide-eyed at the Titan coming. ‘This is not good.. She’s frozen in fear.’ Armin thought. Anora’s tears stream down her face, Armin tugs her and runs. Anora screams “MOTHER! FATHER!” Easton stretches his arm out “We love you, Anora! Live on for us!” A Titan reached for Easton and Isabelle, Anora screamed; all she could do was watch in tears as Armin tugged her to run. The Titan took Anora’s parents in one hand and bit down on them both. Anora cried “NOOOOOO!!!” Blood splattered everywhere, a drop of blood landed on Anora’s cheek. She cried, watching the Titan devour her parents.

  Armin and Anora reached the boat where the other surviving people are evacuating the wall. Anora fell to her knees as they stopped, softly crying. She slammed her fist on the ground “WHY DID WE LEAVE THEM?! I COULD’VE STILL SAVED THEM!” Armin held her shoulders “Anora! It was too late!” She looks at him with tear-filled eyes. “Come on..” he says softly, pulling her to the boat. Anora sniffles, wiping her tears. She didn’t see that Eren and Mikasa were boarding the boat too. They looked traumatized. Anora glanced up and saw them, she knew the look on their faces ‘Guess Eren lost his mother too…’ she looked back down, Armin’s trembling hand wanted to hold Anora’s hand but he was still scared. As the boat was filled, it evacuated the wall. Anora’s shoulders tremble as she mutters "Our home… I-It’s gone..” She then remembered her father’s words ‘It’s your decision, Anora..’ she looks at the shield necklace and glares through her tears. She suddenly heard Eren “I’m gonna put a stop to this!” he said. “I’ll kill them all!” Anora glares, gripping her fist. “I will too. I’ll kill that Titan that killed my parents. Then I’ll kill every last one of them.” Armin looked at the two, “Eren… Anora…” he mutters. His trembling hand gently placed on her shoulder.

  At where all the survivors are, Anora leaned against a wall. Armin walked over to her “Anora...I got some bread for you.” she flinches and looks “O-Oh, thanks.” She takes the bread and eats some of it. “You okay?” he asked her. Anora nods slightly “Y-Yeah… had a nightmare.” Armin frowns “Same one?” She nods again. He places his hand on her shoulder “They’ll go away..” “No. They won’t. They’ll haunt me.” Anora tells him.

  Time went by; Eren, Mikasa, Anora and Armin were in a room together. Armin held his grandfather’s hat and softly sobs. Eren looks at the others “Next year, I’ll join the cadets.” “Me too.” Armin mutters. “So do I.” said Mikasa. “And me.” finally said Anora “I’ll do it for the ones who perished. And my parents. I’ll kill all the Titans.” Eren then stands “Alright. Together then.”

  Anora and her friends joined the training for new members of the Scouting Legion. Anora felt proud of herself ‘Father…Mother.. I’ll join the Scouts. I’ll avenge your deaths and bring humanity back in charge!’
